AARON CHILDERS, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I grew up in a Navy family, completed my undergraduate degree in psychology at the University of Virginia and went on to complete my master's degree in social work at East Carolina University. I have worked with addiction in residential, group and outpatient settings. I joined Tidewater Psychotherapy Services in 2001. I work with teens, adults, and families with a focus on treating depression, anxiety, addiction, and women's issues.
RAJINDER DHILLON, MD
I graduated from GGS Medical College, Faridkot, Punjab, India in 1982. I completed a General Psychiatry Residency in 1990 from Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital (George Washington University) and a Fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1992 from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. I have held the Associate Medical Director position at Tidewater Psychiatric Institute in Virginia Beach, Norfolk Psychiatric Center and Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center. I have served as Associate Professor of Psychiatry, site Director of the Residency Program, Medical student Clerkship and Elective Programs at Eastern Virginia Medical School. In addition, I’ve been the Principal and Lead Investigator in over three dozen medication research trials in children. I have held several senior level positions including President of Hospital Medical Staff, Chairman of Quality Council and Peer Reviewer/Physician Advisor for several insurance panels.
Currently I am Associate Medical Director and provide in-patient psychiatric services to children and adolescents at the Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health. I also provide outpatient services to children ages 3-12 at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services. My area of expertise is ADHD, Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Psychosis, School and Behavioral Problems.
YONBING LARRY PU, MD
I am a board certified general psychiatrist. I mainly treat adults with depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorder, PTSD, psychotic disorder, ADHD, and other common psychiatric conditions. I graduated from Peking Union Medical College in 1993. I have successful prior experiences in internal medicine/endocrinology in China and in urology research in the United States. I completed a psychiatry residency at University of Tennessee in Memphis, Tennessee in 2011. I was in charge of a psychiatry screening and crisis center in New Jersey from 2011 to 2013. During the same time, I also provided psychiatric consultation liaison services to several local hospitals. I began work at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services in 2013. In addition to outpatient work at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services, I am also affiliated with Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center. I am also working with a leading national telepsychiatry service provider company to provide telepsychiatry service to underserved regions and facilities.
DOROTHY MOORE, LPC, ACS, NCC
I have resided in the Hampton Roads area for more than 20 years, and I am a graduate from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I hold a Master’s of Science degree in Education (M.S.Ed.) with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling. I am credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the Commonwealth of Virginia, a National Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board of Certified Counselors (NBCC), and I am certified as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) with the Center for Credentialing and Education. As well, I am a Licensed Mental Health Professional through the Department of Behavioral Health in Virginia.
I am experienced in providing services to a clinically and culturally diverse client population who present with concerns ranging from sexual assault and abuse, victims of domestic violence, severe mental illness, personality, disorders, substance, childhood and adolescent behavioral issues (ages 12 and above), and phase of life issues for adult men and women At Tidewater Psychotherapy Services I provide individual and group counseling. I also facilitate the Horizons IOP Substance Abuse Program.
STEPHEN G. CUNNINGHAM, MD
I completed both medical school and a psychiatry residency at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, VA. I am board certified in General Adult Psychiatry and I treat individuals experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, psychotic disorders (including schizophrenia), addiction and attention deficit disorder. I also serve as an associate medical director at Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center. I am proud to serve the psychiatric needs of patients at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services.

FEDERIC H. BRICKA, LCSW
I received both my Associates and Bachelor of Arts degrees from St. Leo College, St. Leo, FL, the latter in 1983, through the Servicemen's College Opportunity Program, while also completing a successful 21 year Navy career served mostly in the nuclear submarine service. I spent the next 10 years in the business world before deciding to return to my roots in mental health. In 1995, I earned my Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work from Norfolk State University. I subsequently worked in the criminal justice field as an Adult Probation Officer specializing in substance abuse, sex offender treatment, and severe mental illness. Following retirement from Virginia state civil service, I worked as a private contractor with the Navy, specializing in the treatment of domestic violence. I initially entered private practice at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services part-time in 2000, becoming full-time in 2005. I have advanced training in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy through the Albert Ellis Institute in New York City. My treatment interests include individual, couples, family, marital, blended families, single parent, substance abuse, anxiety, depression, anger, domestic violence, gay, sexual abuse, baby boomer (senior) adjustment, working with men, and helping current or former members of the military with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or other issues of concern.

Thomas Costello, LCSW
I am licensed as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both Virginia and North Carolina. I earned my Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1992 and additionally earned a Master’s degree in Theology from St. Leo University in 2015. I enjoyed a 22 year career with the United States Public Health Service, retiring from federal service in 2015. During my time with the federal government, I worked primarily as a psychotherapist, program manager, and clinical supervisor in diverse settings, such as an Indian Reservation, prison hospitals, a psychiatric hospital and seven years with the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth. My primary orientation as a therapist is Solution Focused Therapy, which enables me to provide quality counseling for a wide spectrum of clinical issues. I take a very positive approach to partnering with clients to improve their lives; I have a very non-judgmental style and feel I have the skills to help most people reach their destination in life.

CHRISTOPHER YOUNKINS, LCSW
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I have been working in private practice at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services since 2009. I graduated from James Madison University with a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work in 1999, and, after graduation, led a youth employment program and an alternative to school suspension program in Staunton and Augusta County. I returned to my hometown of Richmond in 2001 and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Master‘s Degree in Social Work in 2003. I provided intensive in home services to biological and foster families while working at a community mental health agency in Richmond for 5 years, and I provided therapy at a foster care agency in Virginia Beach for 1 year before starting work at TPS. At TPS, I provide individual and family therapy to adolescents and to adults to address depression, mood disorders, anger, anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, substance abuse, and various other challenges. I lead substance abuse treatment groups and have been the Director of Substance Abuse Services at TPS since mid-2015. I use various modalities in working with clients, including cognitive behavioral, problem solving, and motivational enhancement interventions.
ANGELA SETTLE, LPC
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at Hampton University and a Master of Arts in counseling from Saint Edward’s University (Austin, TX). While in Texas, I owned a private practice providing psychotherapy for individuals and couples. I also worked as a clinic manager for a Partial Hospitalization Program where I provided therapy for patients with severe mental illnesses as well as managed the daily operations of the program. I have recently moved back to Virginia and joined the Tidewater Psychotherapy Services family to provide individual and couple’s counseling. My areas of interest include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, depression, anxiety, LGBT issues, couple’s counseling, and post-partum depression. I believe that counseling is collaboration between the client and the therapist. I work with clients to build on their strengths and resources to help them reach their goals. I am fully committed to provide counseling in a safe, caring and comfortable environment.
LOUISE FRIEDMAN, LCSW
My interest in social work as a career began when I was an undergraduate at the University of Tennessee and I had the opportunity to work on some federally funded community projects in Appalachia. After receiving a Master’s degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, I worked with the Virginia Beach Department of Social Services, where I participated in developing an emergency response to reports of child abuse or domestic violence. My work with Family Services of Tidewater gave me opportunities to develop clinical skills in working with individuals, couples and families. Through my years at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services, my clinical interests have grown to include a focus on treating depression, anxiety, and panic disorders as well as continuing interest in couples’ relationships and parenting.
MARTIN I. FRIEDMAN, LPC, LMFT
I began my career as a school psychologist, then spent several years working in family treatment programs through the juvenile courts. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with post-graduate training in marriage and family therapy from Georgetown University. I work with individuals, couples, families and groups. I have facilitated anger management and domestic violence groups as well as couples’ groups. I have a particular interest in working with military couples, promoting family unity to help reduce stress and tension that can result from long separations due to deployments.

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
I have provided psychiatric care since 2011 through Portsmouth Naval Medical Center and Portsmouth Community Services Board. I joined Tidewater Psychotherapy Services in October 2016 and enjoy working with patients who experience anxiety, depression, focus issues, and substance abuse. I received my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Certification through Drexel University in 2016. In addition to outpatient services at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services, I provide hands-on instruction at ECPI in Psychiatric Mental Health/Medical Surgical Nursing topics.

Jordan Romero, MD Board Certified Psychiatrist
Originally from southern Louisiana, Dr. Romero earned a BA in Biology from the University of Texas at Austin and then attended the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans where he earned his Doctorate in Medicine. Dr. Romero completed his Psychiatric training at Eastern Virginia School of Medicine, and decided to remain in the Tidewater area. He is Board-Certified in Psychiatry, and has extensive experience in caring for those suffering with Depression, Bipolar and Anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia, Personality Disorders, and various forms of Addiction. Dr. Romero is excited to join the staff at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services, and is passionate about helping his patients achieve their long-term mental health goals.

All of the clinicians at Tidewater Psychotherapy Services are experienced practitioners with specialized training in their areas of expertise. Every clinician is independently licensed by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Tidewater Psychotherapy Services is a multidisciplinary mental health practice where psychiatrists, physician assistants, psychologists, social workers and licensed professional counselors provide a wide range of services to individuals, families and groups. Treatment is provided for patients of all ages, and services include individual therapy, family and marital therapy, medication management, and groups in specialty areas such as substance abuse.
